Mobility was critical, so ninjas with daggers had huge influence, whereas a swordmaster with a 2 handed katana was about useless. Daggers and ranged attacks were overpowered. Of the various weapons, half were pretty much underwhelming. Things that I really don't want to see repeated: Warren report helped a lot in keeping track of the story. It was broken and exploitable (archers ftw), but it tried to have a good balance of complexity. Lots of weapons, armors, items, job classes, skills, magic and customization.

Things that I would want to see, that Tactics Ogre did well (for it's time): Although, it probably shouldn't retain the Tactics name, because people would expect the lore, if not the characters, to carry. Might as well just play it through PPSSPP.Ī newer game that is the spiritual successor would be ideal. Tactics Ogre, as great as it is, is also a bit dated in mechanics.

I think rather than a port of Tactics Ogre, we need a next iteration in the Tactics series.
